Epic Mickey is a platformer developed by Junction Point Studios and published by Disney Interactive Studios for the Nintendo Wii in 2010. The game stars Mickey Mouse, trapped in a desolate wasteland inhabited by forgotten Disney characters. In order to escape, Mickey must use a magic paintbrush imbued with the powers of paint and thinner to reshape the world, and team up with Oswald the Lucky Rabbit to put a stop to the Blot's machinations.
In Epic Mickey, You play as Mickey Mouse, with the ability to use paint to restore the world around you and turn enemies into allies, or use thinner to destroy everything in your way. The choices you make in-game heavily impact the atmosphere of the game, with thinner being associated with the bad ending, and paint resulting in the good ending. The game also has side-quests, which are mandatory in order to unlock the good ending. Some levels place Mickey in 2.5D platforming segments based on classic cartoons, which act as transitions between the main gameplay segments.

Epic Mickey also features five boss encounters that further emphasize the game's morality system, with paint being used to restore the status quo of Wasteland, and thinner resulting in more destruction. However, the game's final boss can only be defeated in a special manner. The first boss in the game is a recreation of the clock tower from "It's a Small World", having been driven insane from hearing the eponymous song on loop for several years.
Upon completing the game for the first time, players can enter a sort of "New Game Plus" where they retain all of the collectibles they acquired throughout their journey, so they can go about collecting the items they missed the first time. Certain collectibles are only attainable by taking specific paths, meaning New Game Plus is mandatory for one hundred percent completion.
